Northern Arena learn to swim school believes all children should be given the opportunity to learn to swim, be safer, and enjoy the water.
Our philosophy is to mainstream disabled children in the pool where this is possible. We extend all children so they reach their potential and believe anything is possible if you persevere. All abilities from first time in the water to special Olympics or Halberg games is catered for.
At Northern Arena swim school, are swim team are adaptable and we believe in being inclusive and in result, treat all our children as potential swimmers regardless of disability.
Northern Arena Director Mark Saunders instigated swimming for disabled “Teaching Disabled Swimmers” teacher training course for Swimming New Zealand. Our teaching team are able to cater to many disabilities such as autism, Aspergers, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, cancer, ADD, ADHD, Angelman’s syndrome, Prader Willi syndrome, and visual and hearing impairment.
We have options that range from mainstream lessons, to school disability classes or private lessons. Prices vary. For more information on options and prices please call us on 09 4219700.
All disabled classes are taught in purpose-built swimming pools with disabled access and are specifically designed to enhance enjoyment, confidence, development and safety in and around water.
